A Piece of History

I was rummaging though my makeup and I stumbled into a shadow quad. I have always been reluctant to throw it out. It was one of the first makeup items I ever purchased.

It was summer and I was in middle school. I went to a fair with my friends and I saw a stand selling makeup items. We browsed around and I saw this. Besides those fruity lip glosses with the roller ball I had no other makeup items. I fell in love with this quad. The colors appealed to teenager in me and I had to have it. I loved this quad, even though I have no idea how to apply it. I rubbed my finger into the cream and rubbed it onto my eye. Not the most professional but I had thoroughly enjoyed this product!

In case you can't read it
Maybelline
Color Delight
Cream Shadow
Pinch of Purple

From Left to Right: Blue, Purple, Pink, White

I want to know what is your oldest/most memorable makeup item in your possession? I would love to read about it!

I am going to point out a few people because I am very nosey....hehe

I hope you girls will write about a piece of your history!

BirchBox August 2012

Birchboxes usually come with hot pink boxes, I thought the orangey yellow pencil color was adorable! They even printed a little rule on the box!

I am most excited about this razor! haha. I just ran out of refills of my Venus razor and I have been thinking of trying something new. It even comes with a coupon which is always a nice touch. This little tub of shaving cream smells divine! I might take this on vacation with me next time. =)

Not too happy with the other samples. I might just throw out the Stila foundations. These seem like such a pain to use. If they gave more than one I could see this as more of something worth trying. I understand that size is not everything but the presentation of this sample was a bit of a let down.

I am going to give the perfume sample to my friend she likes the Viva La Juicy perfumes so I think she might like this one. =)

This month came with a little brochure that has a bunch of tips and tricks!

Birchbox is donating a portion of their proceeds to Pencils of Promise. I think its lovely that they are giving back. I will be making a small purchase this month. *wink wink*

This is going to be my last Birchbox. I still love the service however the mini overload I am currently facing is starting to get out of control. I hope to resume this service after I get through some of them.

Mitswa Haul + Misc

So I had to make a little trip to Mitsuwa to pick up a few things.
Mitsuwa is a Japanese marketplace that sells groceries, household products, beauty items in addition they have a fabulous food court.

Mitsuwa
595 River Road, Edgewater, NJ 07020
(201) 941-9113

First lets start off with food! (If you haven't guessed already I love to eat!)

I picked up a bunch of Onigiri just to have around. My brother and I polished in 2 days!
I also bought home some sushi as well as some salmon sashimi. You pick a slab of fish and they will cut it up for you! We bought 4 salmon filets and 2 tuna filets!

Last but not least we also grabbed half dozen of these red bean filled pastries! (Can't remember the name but they are delicious!)

I also grabbed some snacks for the house. During the summer I always pick up a bag of tea bags. I just toss 2 bags in a huge pitcher, fill it with water and stick it in the fridge! The kind I get doesn't need to be seeped with hot water first so this is definitely a staple for me in the warmer months!

I also bought this squid snack that I had my eye on for the longest time! It literally is squid pieces! It was kind of expensive so I never picked it up. I decided to try it this time and boy was I disappointed! The pieces of squid is drenched in vinegar!

I also didn't like the LOOK chocolate too much either...

As for the beauty products and some random items...

I stocked up on cotton squares. I didn't want to risk being without them again! I also picked up a new cleansing oil. There was a sales lady recommending it and I am running low on mine anyways.

I also picked up some bobby pins! These are the best bobby pins! They are tight and do not slip! They will stay in your hair throughout the whole day! I already have a pack at home but they don't always have them in stock so I jumped at the chance to get some more!

Also got some tea bags for making hot tea in the winter time and a sponge to scrub off walls... haha

I wish I had remembered to take pictures of the food we ate at the food court but we were so hungry when we arrived... xD

Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner Review

So I am on the hunt for a new liquid liner. There are so many new ones on the market lately I had to branch out and try something new. Marching into Sephora I went to see what they would recommend and I walked out with this.

It has a brush tip applicator.
(I learn to how to make my camera focus!!!!)

The brush tip is fairly easy to manuver except the fact that it sometimes leaves patches of product which can be a problem. I have to keep still for the product to dry in those areas or else it would smudge.

My biggest problem with this eyeliner is it is extremely flakey.

With makeup remover, it didn't wipe off... it flaked off and not on my cotton pad... flaked off on my lashes and around my eyes.

Below is a demonstration on my hand.

This is with one swipe. It doesn't look so bad on your hand but if this was around my eye, I would have bits and pieces of eyeliner fallen in my eye and that is just unacceptable...

As for the longevity of this eyeliner, this is what happened after a few hours of wear.

I was just running errands so I wasn't wearing any other makeup except eyeliner. You can see the eyeliner has flaked off near my inner corner and closest to the lash line.

I would say for the average person, if you NEVER touch your eye during the day. (no rubbing!) it will last throughout most of your day. However considering it is marketed as a 24/7 eyeliner it does not deliver.

I rubbed the inner corner of my eye and this is what happened.
(Please excuse the hair)

The formulation of this product causes it to dry and become flakey. I have noticed that more waterproof liners then to have this consistency. Putting the lasting power aside, having an eyeliner that flakes off when you remove seems dangerous. I much rather have an eyeliner that melts off with makeup remover (like every other eyeliner I ever tried) than flake off and cause little black dots all around my eyes.

Packaging: 8/10 (I like that the product is in the tube where you dip into the product)
Price: $19
Results: 2/10 (Flakey)
Longevity: 5/10
Scent and Texture: 6/10 (no scent but Brush tip doesn't apply evenly)
Repurchase: No
Holy Grail: No

Setting with a Sunscreen Pt 1

I wanted to write this post for a long time. I have become a strong advocate of sunscreen. Sunscreen prevents age spots and uneven skin tone, discoloration and melanoma.

However during the mornings when your running 15 minutes late as usual... waiting for yet another layer of liquid to settle into your skin is a few seconds too much to spare. Not to mention most sunscreens leave a white cast or make your skin appear oily.

I discovered this E.L.F Sunscreen almost 2 years ago. After booking my ticket to Costa Rica I knew I would need layers upon layers of sunscreen. I marched over to the E.L.F. website and ordered myself one of these bad boys.

I do not know of many brands that offer a powder sunscreen and since this was the most memorable to me I wanted to give it another try.

I used it every single day in Costa Rica and came back almost no tan whatsoever. (I did use a liquid sunscreen under this.)

What sold me on this sunscreen was it's powder form. I love that I can just buff this in over my foundation and it both sets my foundation as well as gives me the SPF I need!

The ELF one comes with a puff. I normally tap some into the cap and buff it in with a kabuki brush.

The site says there is no color but if you wipe your face, the sunscreen will come off in a foundation like tint. It doesn't have any coverage, I would say it is very sheer on your skin.

There is one downside to this product. When I do buff this in, I notice my skin appears pink compared to my neck and chest. Having yellow skin town it is a bit weird to have such a pink face. I would like to say that my face is naturally darker and less yellow than my neck and chest but with this on it is more obvious. I am also very fair so that might make the pink more pronounced.

This is the second time I repurchased this item and I love it! My only issue is it comes with a pink tint. I would highly recommend this product.

If you have problems remembering to apply sunscreen or like me just don't have the time to wait for another layer of liquid to settle in this might be the product for you!

It retails for $6, however I think it is only available off their website. I haven't seen it at Target. Their $7 shipping fee is steep.... I would wait for a coupon code if your interested in this product.

I also tried the Peter Thomas Roth mineral SPF which I will be reviewing soon.

I am always looking for recommendations for powder sunscreen please let me know if you tried any!
