French Affair - Cercle Rouge

Another Foodie Post!

I went to Cercle Rouge for a friends birthday.
(Happy Birthday Nancy!)

It is a nice restaurant and there were fresh flowers all over the restaurant.
Lily's and cherry blossoms filled the room with a flowery aroma that was just delightful.

A decent picture of me! It almost never happens! haha

Our appetizers!

MOULES À LA CRÈME DE RICARD
mussels, shallots, garlic, Ricard, cream
(Sorry for the horrible picture, I had to take this one with my phone. No worries the rest will be better)

The mussels were perfectly cooked and the cream sauce was delectable, I started dipping our bread in the cream sauce!

CERCLE WINGS
house special chicken wings

The name caught our eye and we decided to give it a try.

We ordered 3 entrees for 4 people.

I don't remember the name of this but it was one of their specials.

A filet of cod over a bed of grilled vegetables in an olive oil vinaigrette.

The cod was flavorful and not dry and the vegetables were delicious. It had a drizzle of an olive oil marinate which was very perfect!

TRUITE AMANDINE
almond trout with haricots verts, steamed
potatoes, lemon brown butter

Another perfect plate! This was going to be my choice till he mentioned the Cod special. Waiters and their overly enticing descriptions always get me!

STEAK FRITES
grilled sirloin steak with french fries and
“maître d’hotel” butter

The steak was perfectly cooked. I don't usually like steak out at restaurants, it never comes out to my liking. This is a rarity indeed! The bed of greens also had a vinaigrette that was delightful.

Since it was birthday we brought along a cake with us

Yes it is a GIANT CUPCAKE!!! I have no idea where my friend Jenn bought it but it was definitely an head turner.

Here is the cake plated.

I was so stuffed at this point I could barely eat the cake!

I am so glad I was able to try this place. It is quite off my usual path in Tribeca but I have a feeling I will make the journey once again!

What are some of your foodie recommendations?

The Final Leap

My winter boots I purchased almost 4 years ago were finally giving out on me.

They were from Aldo and they were very inexpensive.

After years of wear I finally decided I needed a new pair of boots so I made the leap.

These are my very first pair of Uggs and I can understand why people love them. They are very snug and light compared to my old pair from Aldo. I would have to if they retain their snugness.

I opted for the black pair because they didn't have a maroon or reddish color which I would have preferred.

Very boring purchase but possibly my most expensive pair of shoes yet.

What are your most expensive shoes?

Birchbox February 2012

I actually got my box relatively early this month. Usually I don't receive it till the 11-13 but I got it on the 9th.

Here are the goodies.

The eyeliner stickers seem ridiculous to me. I guess it would be fun for people who have trouble using liquid liner but I can't see this as flattering in anyway.

I was excited to see this product. I been getting small pimples and I would love to see this work!

I am always happy to try a new dark spot corrector!

I might give this away because I am very low maintenance when it comes to my hair.

Um.... I guess I will save these for travel but I doubt I would ever use something like this.

Overall this Birchbox was okay. I was very upset I didn't get a beauty blender in my box. I was really hoping for one but the dark spot corrector and the blemish clearing serum seem interesting. I was very disappointed in the eyeliner stickers and the mouthwash.

Sparkle Sparkle

Have you ever went shopping with your friends and just be standing around while they were trying stuff on?

I spent a good half hour walking around this small Express store unable to find anything and waiting to move on to the next store.

Then I spied this little pair of darlings in a bin.

They are a size 7 and I am normally a 7 1/2 but these fit fine.

I saw a pair earlier that day at Bakers a little more than the full price of these. At 50% off I decided to take the leap.

This is what rang up at the register!

This was definitely a steal! I don't know when I am going to wear this but looking at them makes me smile.

What was your last good find?

Lethal Lipsticks

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to share something real quick. My friend sent me this article she had found and I think every girl with a tube of lipstick should read this.

I might be exaggerating a bit with the title of this post but it is something to think about.

Here is the list!

Do you own any of these lipsticks? What would you do now that you know?

NOTW - Essie Carousel Coral

Essie Carousel Coral

Not a very winter themed shade but it called to me when I was trying to pick out a polish.

January Empties

I decided to start keeping a monthly empties log. I think it will help motivate me in trying to finish more products each month.

Since I decided to do this halfway through the month I don't have much to show for it so I decided to clear out some of the tools I leave hanging around that I will never use.

1. $1 E.L.F total face brush that has never and will never go anywhere near my face.
I bought this when I first heard of ELF and it is so rough and sparse I never used it

2. Sonia Kashuk eye makeup remover. (Travel size)
Love this makeup remover. I have so many travel minis, I want to go through some of them.

3. Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum. (Sample)
I love this serum! This is on my repurchase list once I get through some of my other items!

4. Wet n' Wild eyelash curler. (the silver contraption)
I saw this and thought "hmmm.... this would fit nicely in my bag than a traditional curler!".... Fail! It doesn't do a thing!

5. LA Cross eyelash curler.
One of my first curlers before my Shu. I don't use it anymore, I think it is time to toss it.

6. LA cross mini eyelash curler.
I thought this would help with my baby lashes but these kinds of curlers kind of clump the lashes together.

7. My eyebrow shaver...thingy....
I love these things and this one is at the end of its life.

Nothing too exciting this month. Mostly makeup tools that I will never use. I am glad to be rid of them!

Do you have any makeup tools that should be tossed?

A little piece of Green Tea Heaven

I left my daddy at the supermarket whilst I was at another store and he picked these up.

Taiwanese Mochi with Green Tea Paste
(It is also dusted with matcha powder on the outside)

They are absolutely delicious. The best tasting mochi I had in a very long time! I am on my last piece and I can't wait to stop by the market to pick up some more!
