My lovely friend Jenn always invites me to these corporate events that her company has. After one event celebrating the Lunar New Year, we were famished.
Jenn suggested we try this place. Apparently it is popular and a tourist hot spot even though the food is common.
37 Union Square West NYC
I swiped a pack of matches because it seemed so retro for restaurants to give these out nowadays!
There were three of us so we each picked something different.
Spicy Coconut Chicken
"turmeric-coconut broth, rice noodles, chicken, bean sprouts, cilantro, fried shallots, lime"
"chicken-sesame broth, rice vermicelli, ham, chicken, asian radish, scallions, egg strips,
bean sprouts, fried shallots"
"sautéed chicken, green & red bean noodles, carrots, celery, bean sprouts, onions, sesame seeds, ginger dipping sauce"
I had the Glass Noodles not that it made much of a difference, we were rotating our bowls of noodles amongst ourselves it was definitely a fun way to eat!
I enjoyed the coconut broth a lot and kept stealing spoonfuls of the soup. Although I have to agree, the food is common and not very memorable. However the wonderful experience I shared with my friends will instill this restaurant into my mind.
It was a good experience to visit some tourist spots. I must have past this place hundreds of times and never gave it a second thought.
