Sentimental Memories - Republic

My lovely friend Jenn always invites me to these corporate events that her company has. After one event celebrating the Lunar New Year, we were famished.

Jenn suggested we try this place. Apparently it is popular and a tourist hot spot even though the food is common.

37 Union Square West NYC

I swiped a pack of matches because it seemed so retro for restaurants to give these out nowadays!

There were three of us so we each picked something different.

Spicy Coconut Chicken
"turmeric-coconut broth, rice noodles, chicken, bean sprouts, cilantro, fried shallots, lime"

Vietnamese Chicken
"chicken-sesame broth, rice vermicelli, ham, chicken, asian radish, scallions, egg strips,
bean sprouts, fried shallots"

Glass Noodles
"sautéed chicken, green & red bean noodles, carrots, celery, bean sprouts, onions, sesame seeds, ginger dipping sauce"

I had the Glass Noodles not that it made much of a difference, we were rotating our bowls of noodles amongst ourselves it was definitely a fun way to eat!

I enjoyed the coconut broth a lot and kept stealing spoonfuls of the soup. Although I have to agree, the food is common and not very memorable. However the wonderful experience I shared with my friends will instill this restaurant into my mind.

It was a good experience to visit some tourist spots. I must have past this place hundreds of times and never gave it a second thought.

What are some of your sentimental dining experiences?

BBW Virgin

I have been into Bath and Body Works (BBW) many times but I never really bought anything before. I did recall having one pocket bac but I never tried their lotions or soaps.

I got this for Christmas so I decided it was time to check it out.

The store I went to was crazy! You could barely walk in there, it was so crowded and the line literally went around the whole store. So I decided to take matters online.

Turns out BBW was having a big sale. Most of the items I ended up purchasing were online exclusives so it worked out for the best.

I orignally ordered 2 more hand soaps but they decided to cancel those. Just an email saying oh we cancelled the following items. I assumed it was out of stock but it would have been nice for them to tell me that instead of this message...

"Thank you for choosing Unfortunately, your order has been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience."

Okay rant over and now for the goodies!

I purchased a lot of body lotion because I am on my last bottle of lotion! I thought I would stock and and try a few scents!

These hand soaps were on sale so I couldn't resist!

I went for scents that were more on the mild side. I have smelled some of their more popular scents and I think they are too strong and too artificial for my taste.

I didn't think I would like scented hand soaps but these are pretty good! I would love to get more of them! I really want this pumpkin candle I smelled back in the fall, I hope they have it again this year!

What are your BBW favorites?

Project 5 Lips (P5L)

While reading Jacq's blog, I came across a very interesting post.

P20L has two goals.
1. Finish 20 lip products before going out to buy new ones.
2. Wear every lip color at least once.

I don't have the biggest lip product collection but I have enough to worry about them going bad. I cannot contemplate going through 20 lip products, my best guess is it would take me over 2 years!

I did feel very inspired to do something similar. I want to start Project 5 lips.
(Yes I am too chicken to commit to 20 products!)
1. For every 5 lip products I finish, I will be allowed to purchase 1 lip product.

2. I will also ATTEMPT to go through all my lipsticks at least once and do a FOTD with them.

My goal is to check back every 3 months for an update.

(From left to right)
Mac Slimshine in Missy, Lancome Natural Beauty, Mac Lovin' It, Maybelline Plum Wine, Mac Aristo-Chic

I felt like I was cheating a bit with Aristo-Chic so I will throw in two lip glosses

This is an ELF gloss that I love because of its opacity but it refuses to finish. It still has plenty left despite its appearance.

I got this in a swap and I like the color but I am not really into lip glosses.

Would you be willing to try a variation of P20L?

NOTW - Every Dragon is One of a Kind

Essie - One of a Kind

I wanted something Bright to celebrate the coming of the Lunar New Year.
I would definitely use a base coat because I have had some staining issues with this color.

Are you incorporating any holiday cheer in your beauty routine?

Polish Pan

Polishes could be the hardest things to finish. I am excite (and a little sad) to say goodbye to these loved bottles.

I used this for a base coat and to be honest. It was just okay. Nothing spectacular but it does the job.

This was my favorite base coat. It is great at strengthening my nail and I use to wear this on its own. Sadly this has been discontinued a long time ago and this is my last bottle.
I would have to say the only problem with this is the smell but for it's performance it was well worth it.

This one is my 3rd or 4th bottle. After I discovered this baby I realized I cannot live without it. I would not paint my nails if I didn't have any type of drying drops on hand. I have tried other brands of drying drops and the OPI one dries the quickest. I no longer use a topcoat after discovering this.

Ah my beloved Mochachino. This was one of my favorite nail polishes. I looked for many dupes for this polish and I think NYC Canal street comes the closest. I wouldn't say this polish is quick drying but the color is gorgeous.

How many bottles have you finished?

Small NYX Haul

A friend of mine was placing a NYX order and needed a couple extra dollars for free shipping so I decided to pick something up. ^^

I was watching frmheadtotoe and she raves about this highlighter all the time. I decided to give it a try.
I needed a lighter color lip liner. Flower might be too pink for my taste.

I wanted the HD primer but it was out of stock.
I was very proud of myself not to order anymore of their blushes which I love.

Do you have any NYX favorites?

Out with the old and In with the New Part Un.

I went through my makeup drawers and collected items I know I would never use. Then I proceeded to give away what I could. The rest are heading to the trash.

What I learned: I will probably stop buying E.L.F. items, there really isn't a product that I love from them and it seems like a waste of money.

I don't have the heart to throw out some of the items but these need to go, I will probably have a couple more of these as the year continues....

The End to Project 10 Pan 2011

I actually finished mid December but I wanted to add some other bottles to it.

Gilchrist & Soames Body Lotion
Citrus & Cedar Body Lotion
Vaseline Intensive Rescue Healing Hand Lotion

Korres Body Milk in Jasmine
(I had this for a long time and I am so proud that I finally finished it!)

Lancome Artliner
(I probably will purchase the WP version from now on)

L'oreal Lash Serum
(I really do like this and it does make a difference to your lashes!)

Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2 in 1 Day & Night Lash Boosting Serum
(I don't think I used it more than twice before it was empty)

Birchbox January 2012

I love BirchBox! BirchBox is a monthly subscription program that costs $10 a month. Every month they will send you a box and it will have 4-5 samples in it for you to try. It ranges from makeup to skincare depending on the profile you fill out from the site. BirchBox ships a range of five different boxes a month.

You don't know what each box will include and I think of it as a present for myself every month!

I started subscribing to birchbox in October of 2010. I love getting samples of things to try and not being committed to full size items I will never finish. (Short Attention Span)

I thought this year I would start showing what I receive and maybe some thoughts.

This is on my list of things to try so I am so psyched about getting this in my box!

I tried this for the first time tonight and I like it so far.
(I did not realize you cannot twist this back down!)

Color: Peacock

Winter means I go through a lot of body lotion. =)

Viva La Juicy. It's not my taste so I will probably give this away to my friend. =)

I always love getting treats in my boxes!

Have you ever tried a subscription program similar to BirchBox?

So I went to try this fondue place with my friends called Honey.

We ordered the Smoked Gouda Chipotle.
"Smoked Gouda blended with a homemade Chipotle sauce. A bit on the spicy side it is served with steamed asparagus, shrimp, chicken and lamb."

We also ordered buffalo wings with blue cheese. =)

Milk Chocolate Fondue for dessert

It wasn't a great fondue experience, I wish the cheese was smoother and less clumpy. I liked the chocolate fondue but it tasted very much like nestle coco powder chocolate to me. haha
