Natural Canvas

Hi y'all!  I'm Jenn whom Ari had foolishly entrusted in sharing her log in to this blog!  But joking aside, Ari and I have been friends for over 10 years.  You can tell from her posts we meet up quite often to eat.  Everytime she sees me, I have a different nail design on my ten fingers.  I usually repaint my nails every two weeks which is how long it takes for them to chip off (thanks to the power of a good top coat).

I grew up with aunts and cousins giving me "kiddy" nail polishes (i.e. Barbie brand and peel off).  I think my love and enjoyment of decorating my nails began in college.  It was a great stress reliever during those crazy midterms and finals.  I'm still an amateur in this field but nail design/art is popular now.  I doubt I'll ever be able to catch up.  But my aesthetic is funky old school which means I don't use fancy tools, never done gel and no acrylics.  I like to have my nails short and round.  I absolutely love bright colors and sparkles!  I'm a big believer that our nails are small natural canvases that contributes to showing off our individuality.

Recently, I attended an Urban Outfitters nail art event.  They were promoting a new nail set by Miss Pop (http://misspopnails.tumblr.com/).  Although I'm a nail design enthusiast, I don't read or follow nail bloggers.  So I wasn't familiar with Miss Pop before this event but she's huge amongst nail bloggers.  She is funny, sweet, friendly, intelligent and bubbly.  I can keep going with more adjectives but you get the point.  She taught our class watermelon, rose and leopard print designs.  All the materials used during the class were free for us to take home!  A few days after the event, I used her nail set to do my nails (picture below).  Generally, I'm not a big fan of the color pink but I like how all the colors in the set compliments each other.  As I was looking at the nail set, I didn't think the dark teal goes well with the baby pink but it does!  It comes to show how important it is to be open minded and experimental.  These are damn good nail polishes because I've had them on for almost two weeks and they're still going strong.

Edit: Jenn had some technical errors so hopefully everything is showing up clearly now. =D
