NOTW - Glittering New Year

1st Coat of Elf Polish in Blush

2nd Coat of Blush

With 2 coats of WnW Sparkled

This is a gorgeous glitter polish. I wish I could get a better picture of it but it was too shiny. On the nails it looks like a beautiful pinky gold foil on your nails. =)

Each polish costs $1.00.
Total cost of this New Year's NOTW = $2.00 =)

My Beauty Diary Aloe Mask

I was trying to use up some of my moisturizers, and I opened a Dove Moisturizer SPF 15. It was a mini travel size one I bought for vacation.

Couple hours later, my face broke out is little red bumps. That little tube went straight in the trash. (Hence no picture)

I remembered I had an aloe mask sitting around somewhere... so I decided to give it a try.

My Current Issues: Irritated Dry skin

This is what the website says: (Link!)

Main ingredients

- Aloe; Provides skin with adequate moisture content
- Rose; Improves dry and rough skin texture
- Amino acid; Nourishes and moisturizes skin
- Hyaluronic acid; Highly effective in moisture retention

- Moisturizes, repairs, revitalizes and nourishes skin
- For use on normal skin, especially recommended for dry skin and damaged skin

The mask was light perfume scent which was pleasant. It smells nothing like aloe, its more like a baby product scent???

The paper mask is thin compared to my others I have used but it was well saturated.

I put it on, climbed in bed and watched Netflix on my iPhone. About 40 mins later (one episode of my current  obsession) I removed the mask.

Pro: After the mask, I did notice my skin was more very smooth to the touch and the redness and irritation has reduced.

Cons: I noticed immediately that my face was ghostly pale. It was almost like the color drained from my face..Normally after using a mask, (any type of mask) my face is very moisturized and I can skip moisturizer for the night. Thirty minutes after this mask, I felt like my skin could use more hydration.

I think this would be a nice mask in the summer time, however for the winter it does not provide enough hydration. I was also surprised I did not have an adverse reaction to the rose ingredient in this mask. I received this in a mask swap I did with a coworker and chances are I won't be repurchasing this particular mask. However if it came in a variety pack I would gladly try it again.

Initial effect: 3/5
Hydration: 2/5
Firming: n/a
Whitening; 2/5
Smoothness: 4/5
Scent: Light baby lotion scent that doesn't linger
Overall: 2.75/5

A serious of disappointments.... Sigma F40

I placed a sigma brush order to replace my must have brushes after my incident...( ass broke into my car and robbed my luggage when I was on vacation)

This would be my first order from sigma and in ordered a contour brush, two blending brushes and got a free blending brush.

The brushes are the F40, E40, E35 and I got a free mini E25. ( this was the freebie I wanted so I was very excited!)

The F40, large Angled contour brush. It is not large at all. Compared to my last contour brush it was about half in size and not very dense. The hair is very long and tapered and the not as flexible as I would like.

It smells very plastic, hopefully it will wash out evenually.

I think it would be good for a strong contour but it takes longer for me to blend out the color.

It would make a good blush brush because it covers such a small area.

When it comes down to it, in the case of this brush it depends on your personal preference.

I would have much preferred something more dense and bigger. Perhaps it can only be considered a large contour if you are comparing it to something like the Mac 109 brush. Even then I feel this brush isn't that large.

(sorry for the yellow pictures, I need to get some cool white light bulbs)

Update: After frequent use it has fluffed out quite a bit however the bristles seem dry... if that make sense...

A little Gilt Trip....

I was in desperate need of some brush cleaner and I got this in the mail....

I also picked some a Christmas gift and a little treat for myself...

Lost in the Half Shell....

My friend Jenn and I had this bet going to see if our friend was going to have a boy or a girl.... and I lost this one. (She's having a boy!!!)

So I had to take her out to dinner and we decided on this place! (Eats on Lex)

I still am not sure whether or not it is called Eats on Lex or just Eats.... but anyway we had one of the best oysters! We each had a dozen of them!

We also shared a chicken entree which was also very good! We digged right into that so I don't have a picture.

If you ever have the chance go check this place out, it is on the pricey side and I would skip the cocktails as they were medicore at best. =)

NOTW - Milani Blackberry Baby with NYX Glitter

This was one of my Second dark color nail polish. I bought it hoping it would be a dupe of one of my favorite Sally Hansen polishes. It's one of my go to colors for the holiday season.

For the glitter nail I mixed NYX glitter mania in crystal, gold and silver in a little pot to get this effect. (link!)

I was hoping just to do the glitter tips like a French manicure but I failed and went with this instead.

Before and After

I went to this event for the dance school I go to for yoga and belly dancing classes and I wanted to try something different.

Plum Wine with a Muse

Maybelline Plum Wine, I picked up this lipstick last fall while it was on clearance. Don't think I paid more than $2-$3 for it.

I absolutely love it! Works well on my skin tone and a beautiful color.

It also has this watermelon candy scent that I adore!

I paired it with Lux Gloss in Muse.

A Forgotten Love... - Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Refining Softener Enriched

I forgot how much I loved this toner. I love the smell, it's a light scent and dissipates quickly which I love.

I had a little bit left which I was saving because I knew I wouldn't pay to $48 price tag for it. This came in a set that I bought a while ago and I had tried it previously in a gwp set.

This toner is very good at getting off residue makeup on your face. It always manages to pick up something off my face.

I believe it has alcohol in it which I think helped keep my skin clear when I was using it.

When I used it today I did feel my skin was a little dry probably due to the alcohol so I sprayed a bit of my Claudalie toner on my skin afterwards.

I don't think this toner does anything for brightening complexion on it's own but I do think the White Lucent line when used consistently works great for brightening your complexion.

I love this toner, though I probably won't get this separately but I would purchase Shiseido's white lucent set again when I go through enough of my existing skincare.

NOTW - Essie Lyford Liliac

I had a job interview and I needed something more conservative so I pulled out this baby.

I absolutely love this polish!

Finish, color, and longevity.

It took 3 coats to get a nice opacity because it's such a thin polish but it is absolutely magnificent!

NOTW - Julep Drew

This polish is amazing... Completely opaque in one coat....

I don't love the color but the finish and opacity is gorgeous!

Sweet tooth - DessertTruck Works

One of my besties took me out to her favorite ramen place. Everything was so delicious that I digger right in so there are no pictures.... =[

I did however try to contain my excitement when we went to Dessert Truck Works!

We had two macaroons, the passion fruit and the salty caramel. We also ordered the chocolate bread puddding with bacon fudge.

The macaroons have to be the best I ever had and I loved them. ( Did I mention I dislike macaroons??) They were that good!!! At $2 each they are pricey but I would still urge you to try of you ever got the chance!!!!

The salty caramel had sweet sugary goodness with a deep caramel middle. I didn't find it salty at all, it seemed more like normal caramel with me. That being said it had a very smooth and deep caramel taste. The texture wasn't sticky and definitely didn't stick to my teeth. (Didn't get a chance to snap a picture again)

The passion fruit is a must try if you are a fan. One bite and I could taste the sourness that comes with real passion fruit. I was immediately brought back to my childhood when my grandmother use to buy me passion fruit juice when I use to visit her in the Caribbean. Passion fruit juice is made by boiling down real passion fruit and has an intense sweet and mildly sour taste and has an opaque orange brownish color. Yes it was that amazing. It is rare to find this type of passion fruit flavor. I savored every bite.

The chocolate bread pudding surprised me! It is definitely what I had in mind when I think of bread pudding. It had a layer of warm chocolate cake almost brownie like but not as dense and deep chocolate syrup but not as rich as the consistency of fudge. Topped with bacon bits and lastly a dollop of real whipped cream. The salty bacon bits and the chocolate complement each other very well. I even liked the whipped cream, which was definitely not your typical store bought cream, this cream is definitely fresh and whipped to perfection. Not overly sweet at all.

I can't wait to come back to sample the rest of the macaroons.
